US — Salem, Oregon. A man who openly admits that he is a convicted felon was seen on social media applauding the gender identity laws that have enabled him to seal his record.

The individual’s Facebook intro describes him as a “proud trans woman.”

On his Facebook page, the 46-year-old documents the process as he legally changes his name and swaps his recorded biological sex for a gender identity.

“It’s official it’s finally official yes,” the man exclaims in a Facebook post that is visible to the public.

Affixed to the post is a photograph of a legal form that shows the man’s request to change his name from William Donald Cullers to Hope Ann McKnight, and change his sex to female.

The form shows boxes that the court may check off to grant the petitioner’s request to have the record sealed.

Oregon law gives those who petition for a name and sex change the option of sealing the record, as shown here on the official form on the state’s website.

The man explained in a separate public post on the social media network:

This just happened my legal name is know (sic) Hope Ann McKnight and my sex is Female
And all my records are sealed
I am no longer a felon
Thankyou (sic) God
And the NA [Narcotics Anonymous] program

The man’s friends respond with “like” and “love” reactions, words of encouragement, inquiries about the legal process and advice as he chronicles his journey for public consumption.

The man’s Hope Ann McKnight Facebook profile boasts many publicly visible photos of him cavorting at clubs and Transgender Pride events with his genderqueer, transgender and drag queen friends.

On a separate profile under the name of Bill Cullers, the same man discusses his struggles undergoing drug rehab for his addiction to various illegal or unprescribed drugs, including methamphetamine, heroin and suboxone.

Records show that William Donald Cullers was last convicted of a felony in August 2017.

The Albany, Oregon police department issued a bench warrant for the arrest of William Donald Cullers as recently as February 2018.

The criminal record of Cullers stretches back sixteen years and spans two states.

      There were already two links in the article, one of which shows his conviction for check fraud. The article has also just been updated with further information. We will continue updating as more information becomes available.
